We Need To Drop The Word “expert” From Our Lexicon

It is now patently absurd to ask people to “follow the science” or put their faith in any expert’s opinion.

From Manhattan Contrarian:

It seems that Ms. Jankowicz, during her time at the Wilson Center, specialized in this subject of “disinformation.” Indeed, she was a go-to source for the mainstream press to help them and their audience to distinguish the real information from the disinformation. For example, when the New York Post broke the Hunter Biden laptop story in October 2020, the Associated Press needed someone who was a bona fide “expert” in disinformation to help the public decide, in the few days remaining before the election, whether the damning emails on the laptop were real or fake. Ms. Jankowicz stepped up. From the AP, October 14, 2020:

ARE THE NEW EMAILS AUTHENTIC? The actual origins of the emails are unclear. And disinformation experts say there are multiple red flags that raise doubts about their authenticity, including questions about whether the laptop actually belongs to Hunter Biden, said Nina Jankowicz, a fellow at the nonpartisan Wilson Center in Washington.

Apparently, the Wilson Center is just chocked full of “experts” who will say whatever “the Narrative” requires them to say at any time and for any purpose.

If you go to the Wilson Center and search for an expert on “disinformation” now, you’ll get this persyn’s bio back: https://www.wilsoncenter.org/person/elizabeth-newbury

ELIZABETH M H NEWBURY

Acting Director of the Science and Technology Innovation Program; Director of the Serious Games Initiative

“Acting Director of the Science and Technology Innovation Program”. Oooooh, fancy! Let’s just see what qualifies xir for such a grandiose title.

She holds a B.A. in anthropology from Bryn Mawr College, and a Master and PhD from the Department of Communication at Cornell University,

I’m not linking her photo as a public service

So, nothing. No STEM background what-so-ever, but if you’re writing a piece on using tech to distribute “disinformation” and you want an authoritative quote from someone, “Doctor” Newbury is your go-to “expert”.

I wonder how many thousands (or tens of thousands) of these wunderkind are feeding at the federal trough without us, the taxpayers, having any idea that these organizations even exist.

  1. Don’t believe anything told by a government “spokesperson.” They lie reflexively to give the answer they think most people will want to hear or the answer that makes their bosses least accountable. If they say the sun rises in the East, check and verify it for yourself.
